Playing the game
Can I play yesterday's puzzle, or older ones?+
Yes — every puzzle since launch is in the archive. Open the side menu and tap Archive. You'll see a calendar going back to launch day; tap any date to play that puzzle.
The archive is fully unlocked — you don't need to play in order, and you don't need a streak to access older puzzles. Solved puzzles are marked with a small green dot on the calendar.
How do I save my progress on a puzzle I haven't finished?+
Progress saves automatically. Every track you draw is saved the moment you lift your finger — leave the app, lock your phone, take a call, the puzzle is exactly where you left it when you come back.
If you want to start fresh, tap the Reset button (circular arrow) in the top-right of the puzzle screen. That clears all tracks and lets you start over.
How do I mix two carriage colours together?+
Cross two tracks of different colours at the same square. Red + blue makes purple, yellow + blue makes green, red + yellow makes orange. The grey carriage is special — it can deliver any colour.
What does the star icon mean on solved puzzles?+
A gold star means you solved the puzzle using fewer track squares than the par solution. It's a soft challenge, not required — every solution counts as a win.
Account & progress
Do I need an account to play?+
No. Trainyard works fully offline with no sign-in. Optionally, you can link a Google account to back up your progress and sync across devices — that's the only thing an account does.
How do I move my progress to a new phone?+
On the old phone: Settings → Backup → Sign in with Google. On the new phone: install Trainyard, sign in with the same Google account, tap Restore. Your archive, streaks, and stars come with you.
Will my streak break if I miss a day?+
You get one free skip per week — miss a day and your streak is paused, not reset. Miss two days in the same week and the streak resets. Solving an archive puzzle does not count toward the daily streak.

Is Trainyard free?+
The first 200 puzzles and today's daily are free forever. Unlocking the full archive is a one-time £4.99 purchase. No subscription, no ads, no in-app purchases beyond that.
How do I get a refund?+
Within 48 hours of purchase, refunds are handled directly through Google Play. After 48 hours, email
Trouble & bugs
The app keeps crashing when I open a puzzle.+
Force-stop and relaunch first. If it persists, Settings → Storage → Clear cache (your progress is safe — it's stored separately). Still broken? Email support with your phone model and Android version.
I think I found a puzzle with no solution.+
Every released puzzle is solved by hand before publication, but mistakes do slip through. Tap Settings → Report this puzzle on the puzzle screen — we get a notification and usually post a fix the same day.
